Description
We are searching for a dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our financial and human resources management efforts. This role will involve collaboration with IT consultants to enhance organizational efficiency. You will report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer and supervise the Staff Accountant, finance consultants, IT consultants, and the Front Office Administrative Assistant.
Responsibilities
Human Resources/Administrative
- Lead the recruitment and screening process for new team members.
- Support the President/CEO in managing, evaluating, and guiding staff, including managers and directors.
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate internal controls and policies.
- Facilitate the annual goal-setting and evaluation process.
- Manage employee relations and address performance issues as needed.
- Foster a positive workplace culture to enhance employee morale.
- Oversee the agency's insurance portfolio and compliance initiatives.
- Actively seek professional development opportunities for staff.
- Assist with compliance and litigation matters, supporting agency-wide CARF compliance.
- Maintain personnel files and manage attendance records, including vacation and sick leave.
- Serve as the staff liaison for the human resources and finance committees.
- Administer compensation and benefits, ensuring a competitive package to attract and retain talent.
- Promote initiatives related to employee safety, wellness, and health.
- Oversee disciplinary actions in collaboration with supervisors to ensure policy adherence.
- Lead the Health and Safety Committee to ensure compliance with health protocols.
Finances
- Collaborate with finance consultants and staff accountants to ensure accuracy in all finance and accounting functions, including budgeting and audits.
- Ensure timely delivery of financial reports to staff, the board, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare annual and departmental budgets, contributing to strategic initiatives related to financial management.
- Maintain strong internal controls in consultation with auditors and consultants.
- Provide oversight to the finance committee and manage relationships with investment officers.
- Familiarity with government regulations such as CFR 200 is preferred.
Information Systems
- Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and procurement of all IT systems, hardware, and software.
- Ensure AV technology is available and functional for meetings.
- Provide strategic oversight for technology-related documentation and training.
- Supervise IT contractors to ensure technology systems meet organizational needs.
- Ensure IT services deliver high-quality customer support and align with organizational goals.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
- A self-starter with a goal-oriented mindset, able to set objectives and develop actionable plans.
- Collaborative and strategic thinker who can engage and inspire team members and board leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop and track progress on goals and objectives.
- Understanding of current AV and IT technologies.
- Minimum of five years of experience in hiring, managing, and guiding a workforce in a service-oriented environment.
Knowledge and Ability
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to influence and persuade effectively.
- Capable of setting and tracking goals and objectives.
