Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Human Resources Officer will be responsible for overseeing both Field and Corporate HR functions. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company's workforce is aligned with its strategic objectives. You will lead the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and initiatives to attract, retain, and develop top talent across both field and corporate settings. This includes talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation, and benefits efforts. Additionally, They will serve as a strategic advisor to Senior Leadership on all matters related to human capital, helping to drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and ultimately, business success.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior advisor and thought partner to the President and Chief Commerce and Operating Officer. They will also function as a key advisor to the Senior Leadership Team on all human capital areas, helping to ensure that the company has the required talent and processes/systems to grow and evolve the business.
- Help infuse a high-performance, team-oriented, accountable, and engaged culture reinforced by HR practices and programs that are aligned to the overall strategy of a growth company.
- Learn the business and build credibility across all levels and geographies. They will assess the talent, culture, processes, systems and begin to develop a strategy focused on supporting the business in some areas and transforming the business in others.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Support the recruitment and retention processes, ensuring the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Lead initiatives to foster a positive work culture, promoting a positive and engaging work environment
- Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, in compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Oversee performance management systems, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
- Support the development and implementation of training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and industry standards, mitigating risks for the organization.
- Analyze HR metrics and data to provide insights and make data-driven decisions to improve HR processes and outcomes. Build relationships with employees across the company, including spending time in the field. Ensure that the President and Chief Commerce Officer, and Senior Leadership Team have the “pulse of the company” to make proactive and impactful organization decisions.
- Help ensure that the company has a compensation and benefits strategy and programs, including those at the executive level, which will help motivate and lead to desired behaviors that are aligned with the company’s strategy.
- Be aware of current and evolving regulatory influences on management, policies, processes, and practices. Ensure that the company is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in retail and omnichannel HR and Operations preferred.
- Experience helping an organization evolve its culture, including breaking down silos and delivering a more engaged, accountable, and collaborative workforce.
- Experience as a thought partner to a CEO or Senior Leaders across all facets of an organization, business strategy and culture. Ability to influence and guide management’s point of view, offering alternative constructive suggestions.
- History of building innovative strategies and implementing effective processes for proactively hiring, onboarding, developing and retaining talent (including strong managers and hourly employees) across the company.
- Change management experience with a track record of driving cultural transformation.
Skills & Knowledge
The Chief Human Resources Officer will be a dynamic, hands-on leader with deep business acumen, analytical abilities, strategic insight, sound judgment and in-depth executive experience as a human resource leader who has helped lead business transformations. They will have clearly proven herself/himself to be a critical contributing member of a senior management team and make contributions viewed to be of value to the company. This executive will have subject matter expertise across all aspects of HR, including leadership/management development, talent acquisition, organization design/effectiveness, change management, labor relations, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training, HR systems and processes. Specifically, they will also have:
- A strategic and innovative bent with an equally strong operational focus. Ability to master complex business problems, manage competing priorities and have the intellect and pragmatism to be able to effectively manage ambiguity and change.
- Well-developed leadership, communications, teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address sensitive HR and business issues.
- A strong reputation for building, developing and leading a respected and business-oriented HR team.
- Depth in organizational development, organizational effectiveness, coaching and facilitation.
- Broad knowledge and experience in compensation and benefits with the track record of aligning reward vehicles to desired behaviors at all levels.
- Experience building and working with a diverse workforce and a record of ensuring that an organization has a diverse and inclusive culture.
EDUCATION
An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree such as an MBA, MS or related graduate degree is highly desirable.
