The ideal candidate will manage the overall operations of the company as well as develop and implement strategies that meet the needs of the customers, the stakeholders, and the employees. They will be responsible for making key decisions and executing the culture of the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Board of Directors (Non-profit Corporation)

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Timely and effective mediation services are provided to clients of the Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center and Fond du Lac Conflict Resolution Center through effective training and support of volunteer mediators.

2. All program objectives are achieved within the established budget.

3. A high percentage of assigned cases are resolved via mediation to the general satisfaction of the parties.

4. Potential clients are made aware of the availability of Center services.

5. Activity reports and grant applications are produced accurately and timely.

DIMENSIONS:

1. Budget: $150,000 per year consisting of grant funds and client fees.

2. Personnel: Supervise 50 volunteer mediators and part-time assistants.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Program Administrator:

1. Prepare and monitor the annual budget.

2. Prepare and administer grant applications.

3. Prepare financial reports.

4. Supervise part-time assistants.

5. Report to the Board at quarterly Board meetings.

6. Seek new funding sources.

Training:

1. Screen and train volunteer mediators in annual 40-hour workshops, or as needed.

2. Evaluate and monitor approximately 50 volunteer mediators over both locations.

3. Conduct mediator meetings.

4. Write and publish mediator newsletter monthly.

5. Conduct conflict resolution workshops for businesses, schools, and other groups when requested.

6. Train mediators for other centers when requested.

7. Conduct mediation training for individuals when requested.

8. Develop, train, and consult with school-based peer mediation programs when requested.

Operations:

1. Conduct weekly mediation orientation sessions for small claims cases (Mondays for Fond du Lac Conflict Resolution Center and Thursdays for Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center).

2. Mediate eviction and replevin cases for intake judges when appropriate.

3. Screen client calls and provide information about Center services and advice in dispute resolution.

4. Match clients with mediators and schedule mediations with the assistance of staff.

5. Process cases through court as to disposition after mediations.

6. Maintain records of case dispositions.

7. Mediate disputes as needed.

8. Refer clients to other human service agencies as needed and as appropriate.

9. Mediate cases for a fee when requested.

Public Relations:

1. Conduct public speaking engagements.

2. Recruit volunteers through various means.

3. Monitor legislative action and public knowledge regarding mediation.

4. Network with other Centers statewide and nationwide.

5. Promote and help develop other mediation programs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Bachelors' degree required. Degree in human services or related field with specialized training in conflict resolution, mediation, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

2. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

3. Skills to recruit, retain, and motivate a corps of volunteer mediators.

4. Ability to prepare and present financial reports and budgets.

5. Skills to effectively mediate disputes.
