This is a full-time position with the Department of Human Services (DHS). The position is based in Pierre. A part-time remote work arrangement may be considered, but the majority of the successful applicant's time will be spent in the Pierre office. Starting salary of $102,480.85- $120,565.71 plus generous vacation leave accrual, medical, dental, vision, and other benefits. A moving allowance may be considered for the right candidate.

DHS is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to fulfill the duties of the Chief Financial Officer. The CFO serves as a strategic partner within DHS and State government. The position administers just over a half a billion dollar budget and manages a team of approximately 17 employees.

The Chief Financial Officer is part of the Department's Senior Leadership Team and oversees all financial and budget operations of the Department. The Office of Budget & Finance is comprised of four key areas: provider reimbursement and grants, audits, accounting and financial reporting, and budget. Some of the specific responsibilities of the Finance Office include grants management, contract monitoring, rate setting, developing reimbursement methodologies, auditing provider cost reports, oversight and support of accounts payable, managing the accounting and financial reporting of the Department, cost allocations, developing annual budget requests, and analyzing revenues and expenditures. The Chief Financial Officer is also a member of the Department's legislative task force and plays a key role in legislative session through lobbying and testifying before the legislature on all budget-related items. The successful candidate will find public service challenging and rewarding.

This position will work directly with the Cabinet Secretary and report to the Deputy Secretary of DHS.

ability to present complex information to various groups.
